Matisse: Drawing With Scissors

Dive into the life and work of artist Henri Matisse. Students will experiment with colour mixing, using paint to mix their own unique colours, tints, and shades.

Next, say « bonjour» to those French language & culture cross curricular connections! Together, we will read a book that explores the life and work of Matisse (in English ou en français).

Last but certainly not least, we will put the Elements of Art to work while we investigate line, shape, and composition to create our very own Matisse-inspired painted paper collage.

This project is a great way to either introduce or to reinforce the elements of art. “Drawing with Scissors” is a crowd pleaser for all ages and abilities. Well-loved by teachers and students alike!
