As always, you are welcome to work with the prompts provided on site, or bring your own item or reference image to draw from.
Tip: Make sure your phone is fully charged before you come! You can always draw inspiration from your own photos or look up a reference image if necessary.
Experiment with a full range shadows and highlights by using mid-tone paper!
Experiment with found text and dip your toes into the world of hand lettering! Play around with creating little pick-me-up notes for your self, a billet doux for someone you adore, or dabble with found word poetry.
Painted Paper Collage
Create patterns on painted paper and turn them into a collage inspired by your favourite place!
Please have reference photos of a few of your favourite places on hand (you can text or email them to yourself and refer to your phone, print them, or Google Search on your phone if they are readily available online!).
Mapping Your City
What makes Edmonton your city? Reflect on your favourite places, landmarks, and memories, and create a small map to show the world Edmonton through your eyes.
Botanical Soft Pastels

See you next month!
Van Gogh Inspired Oil Pastels
Work from observation on site or a reference image from home to create a bold pastel drawing in the style of this great master.
There is something about the smell of September air that always reminds me of back to school. Whether you are a student yourself, have students in your life, or have closed that chapter in your life, September is the perfect time to fall back in love with reading! What better way to welcome September than with handmade bookmarks?
Textured Ink Drawings
Inspired by Albrecht Durer's Rhinoceros, and right in time for Inktober! Work with pen and ink to create a beautiful drawing bursting with texture.
Create a pattern and print your heart out! This month we will work with scratch foam, a material which provides a perfect introduction to relief printmaking.
No Drink & Draw this month, but join us for a linocut printmaking workshop instead! Build on the skills you learned last month to experiment with more sophistacted printmaking materials and create a beautiful set of holiday cards.

Drink & Draw is a series of monthly art classes for adults put on by ArtVentures at various locally owned venues across the city. Each month, we will experiment with a different medium, genre, or theme.
Projects are geared towards adults of all abilities. Each session, you will be introduced to a few basics or tips for inspiration, with no presumption of existing knowledge or skill.
Drink & Draw sessions balance guided instruction with open-ended prompts. This sweet combination makes for a wonderful evening of creativity, which experienced artists and clueless beginners alike can enjoy!
If you enjoy being creative (regardless of ability) in good company, then yes, this is for you.
I provide all the materials you will need for project creation and send you home with the confidence and inspiration you need to continue creating on your own.
Food and beverages (both licensed and non alcoholic) are available for purchase on site.
I always encourage everyone to have their phone handy! Sometimes we turn to personal photos for inspiration or need to look up a reference image.
